Long Residence

The Long Residence is located in North Yarmouth, Maine. The client requested a two bedroom, two and one-half bath residence with a loft overlooking the ground floor living space. The space above the garage is finished for exercise equipment but can become a third bedroom and bath.

Subdivision covenants required traditional New England style architecture. The design distills New England vernacular form to create a simple but strong expression of Yankee integrity and modesty. The deck off the kitchen is wrapped with a wood screen and trellis to provide privacy and moderate sun exposure.

The building is highly insulated and orientated to optimize photovoltaic panel performance if installed in the future.
