The Office of Creative Portland

A vacant shell space in a municipal parking garage with frontage on Free Street in Portland, Maine is the new home for Creative Portland – a nonprofit organization that leverages, grows, and sustains Portland’s creative industries, enterprises, and workforce. Across the street from the Maine College of Art, it will be a gathering place for artists and creatives as well as office space for staff. With a very tight budget, a minimalist palette of white walls, stained concrete floors and gallery lighting is proposed. The renovation supports adaptive flexible use and displays of art while offering a street presence to passersby.
